Act of War: High Treason takes place over the course of three days, three years after the events in Act of War: Direct Action. On the eve of the U.S. Presidential election, the two candidates for President of the United States, Senator Watts and Vice President Cardiff are attacked, and the sitting POTUS, President Baldwin is assassinated with an explosive device while his motorcade is leaving the White House. VPOTUS Cardiff survives and becomes the new POTUS, while Senator Watts is assassinated in Manhattan.

Several important government officials and General Kelly are arrested on conspiracy charges pertaining to the assassinations. Task Force Talon travels to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, in order to meet Colonel Whitemore, leader of the "Red Cell" military group based there. However, once there, they are attacked by US Army forces, and marked as guilty of high treason. Sergeant Major Ray Jefferson and Sergeant Oz Jackson successfully escape the trap, and track Whitemore's C-17 transport carrying a shipment of USAMRIID biological barrels to Cancún, Mexico. There it is discovered that Red Cell is working with the Consortium and that the bio-weapon is X-357, a virus which is deadly against animals, but harmless against humans. TFT hijacks a Consortium Visby class Corvette and escapes Cancún, pursuing a trio of Consortium Typhoon class submarines which are carrying the biological samples.

TFT meets up with Admiral Burns and the USS Tarawa who help them land in Cuba. Landing in Cuba, they discover that the country has been completely taken over by the Consortium and that President Cardiff is working with the Consortium and was behind Baldwin's assassination. TFT seizes a hacienda in Cuba in search of a Cuban biological weapons expert, Dr. Morello. While they fail to find Morello, they discover Senator Watts still alive and evacuate him to a friendly US naval base the Bahamas, where he gives a speech on live television all around the country testifying against Cardiff and the Consortium.

Watts finishes his speech and then is sent to the US so that he may testify in the United States Congress against Cardiff. Red Cell is tracked to Cape Canaveral where they try to hijack Space Shuttle Liberty in order to work on X-357 in space where it can be modified to kill humans. TFT attempts to stop the shuttle launch but the Red Cell succeeds in hijacking the shuttle and performs a manual launch. The 52nd Airborne, the 104th Airborne and the 81st Airborne divisions guarding the launch site then proceed to attack the TFT, whom are still marked as terrorists. Congress impeaches President Cardiff, and Kelly is reinstated. The 52nd and 81st cease firing on TFT units, but the 104th, under the command of Colonel Whitemore (and thus Consortium-controlled), continue to fight only to be destroyed.

Space Shuttle Liberty is tracked to its landing zone in the Taklamakan Desert in Central Asia. Acting President Delaney goes to the UN Security Council in order to form a multinational coalition to destroy the Consortium, and the US Army attacks the landing site. The virus on board the shuttle is destroyed with an experimental bomb, and the rest of the Consortium forces are finally defeated.

During the epilogue, it is revealed that former President Cardiff has been shot dead, while Senator Watt's presidential campaign is virtually unopposed. Major Richter and the other personnel on Task Force Talon, believed to be MIA, are actually on vacation in the Bahamas.

BioShock opens with a bang, but the overall plot focuses more on making an emotional impact than an explosive one. The year is 1960, and you're flying over the Atlantic Ocean. One mysterious plane crash later, you're floating in the water, apparently the lone survivor, surrounded by the flaming wreckage of the aircraft. But there's a lighthouse on a tiny island just at the edge of your view. Who in their right mind would put a lighthouse this far out? You swim closer and discover a small submersible called a bathysphere waiting to take you underwater. After catching a breathtaking view of what's below, you're sent into the secret underwater city of Rapture. Masterminded by a somewhat megalomaniacal businessman named Andrew Ryan, this city is driven by its own idea of total freedom, with capitalism completely unhindered by governmental meddling and science unhinged from the pesky morals of organized religion. Sounds like the perfect society, right? Well, even before you step out of your bathysphere and into the city, it becomes obvious that everything has gone horribly wrong down here. The city is trashed, and genetic freaks called splicers roam around, attacking anything that gets in front of them. At the heart of the matter is a powerful, corrupting substance called ADAM, which makes all this genetic tinkering possible and allows you to get your first plasmid power, the ability to shoot lightning out of your fingertips. Character customization is a key trait in BioShock. You have a limited but increasable number of spaces in various customization categories, and you can totally reconfigure all of your different plasmids and tonics at will, at no charge, at specific locations in-game. Plasmids are the active, weaponlike genetic enhancement. Many of these are very straightforward. Incinerate lets you burn things and melt ice. Telekinesis lets you use your left hand as if it were Half-Life 2's gravity gun. But others are a little more subversive. Security bullseye is a little ball you can toss at enemies, causing any ~Censored~ security cameras, turrets, or sentry bots to point in his direction. Enrage can cause enemies to fight one another. Insect swarm causes your arm to shoot bees at your enemies, which unfortunately is far less cool-looking than it sounds. You can also place decoys, plant swirling wind traps for enemies, and so on. While it's fun to mess around with a lot of the indirect attacks, facing your enemies head-on with the more direct plasmids feels a bit more effective.

Review :

During our training in Recondo, we were instructed that having found
ourselves at gun point, seemingly with no chances of survival, we should
smile at our foe. Surprised by such behaviour, he would hesitate for a
fraction of a second. This unbelievably short period of time meant the
fine line between death and life. It gave way for other arguments and we
had full cartridges of them. We would kill hundreds of enemies this way,
leaving behind dead bodies, with the eyes telling the story of surprise
and our smiling faces.

By no means was it an ordinary war. Our foe was faceless, bereft of
identity. The whole Vietnam was our enemy. Its climate, terrain, mud,
jungle, mosquitoes and short, weird inhabitants, armed with Chinese
weapons and unreal ideals.

In terms of military strength, we outpowered the enemy. We had state-of-
the-art technology, napalm, helicopters, artillery support,
communications, supplies of equipment. No way we could lost? Way. It is
hard to imagine any army capable of defeating foe who is nowhere and
everywhere at the same time, foe who fights on his own ground, which for
us was hostile, alien and hard to understand. With time, we learnt some
rules of that world, we grasped the gist of fighting there. However, it
was primarily the fight for survival.

Ho Chi Minh, the leader of the communists in Vietnam, once said: you can
kill ten of my men with the loss of just one of yours, but you will still
lose, and I shall prevail. At the early stages of war in Vietnam, we
treated those words as a madman's babble. Towards the end, we had to
acknowledge they were true.

In October 1967, having spent some time training at a school for special
forces in Nha Trang, I was transferred to a temporary military base in
Don Dien, as the leader of a distant recon squad of four men. We all had
been in service for long, trained in sabotage, communication and intel.
We were invisible to those who themselves tried to be invisible. We were
the assassins of killers. Ready to bite. Yet, the winter offensive of
North Vietnam army smashed our teeth.

In 1968, a base located on the hill outside Don Dien found itself on the
marching route of a regular communist army, preparing for the strike on
the ancient, imperial city of Hue - the Binh Tri Thien province capital.

Al. Capone used to say that you can win more if you supplement outspoken
words with a gun. We were not trained to give speeches. As for the guns,
we had plenty of them...

Review :

It starts with the first appearance of the Jagdpanthers at Chaumont û
which was when the Allies realised that victory would be not easy to
gain. 1944: Battle of the Bulge lets players act against the
Brandenburger Regiment, landing behind enemy lines. From there, the game
journeys to the River Meuse and to Bastogne, where the Americans launch
a counterstrike with the massive force of its air supremacy behind it.
The game then continues to Operation Northwind, the last German
offensive. 1944: Battle of the Bulge reaches a climax of epic
proportions with the Allied attack at the Rhine, ending at the battle of
Remagen.
